Tapas, Tupperware, & Cardigans: The Mom Post

Museo del Traje was beautiful! Never before have I wanted to touch museum exhibits this much. Touching and wearing are the best ways to experience clothing after all. The outfits were intoxicatingly beautiful and strange. I took some photos when the museum staff wasn’t around. The temporary exhibit had a jacket from a Japanese designer. The pocket had a plastic covering over it and 2 fake sushi pieces between the fabric and plastic. How different! This museum is definitely my favorite so far. That night I went to dinner with Matt. He peer pressured me to eat a mushroom. I had always found their texture to be a bit off putting, but I liked it!

Yesterday I took a tapas class with Alyssa and Emily that was organized through Nebrija. It was fun and not difficult. It was nice to be around a real kitchen again. We made salmoreja (like gazpacho), tortilla española (like an omelette with potato chunks and onions), and shrimp fried in a beer batter, and potatoes aioli. I tried everything but the salmoreja, and even enjoyed the shrimp!

We went shopping after the class. I FINALLY found a white cardigan, it only took a few years. Emily left to go home, so Alyssa and I went to the metro station where we were to meet Kelsey for dinner. We had a half hour to spare and went into a store “Mundo Total” and found amazing deals! I bought Tupperware to use for lunch in place of plastic bags, hairspray, and bobby pins. It was crazy cheap. Someone bought hairspray earlier in the week for 5 euros and mine was only a euro and change! We also found Popsicle molds and Alyssa had the idea to make tinto de verano Popsicles. Tinto de verano is a popular drink here that’s made of red wine and lemon Fanta (or another lemon soda). Try it. So refreshing! We opted to just make them back in America. I was made fun of for buying the Tupperware though. I was so giddy about it! Dirk and Mike especially got a laugh and their laughter made me laugh too. I’m on laughing my way to a 6-pack :D

Kelsey ran into Mike and Sean on the metro and we joined them for dinner. Alyssa and I found Brianna, and the 3 of us got lost trying to find Mike, Sean, Dirk, and Kelsey. People need to stop putting me in charge of directions. I got back from dinner around 11:30 and was exhausted.

Tonight we leave to Barcelona. I’m so excited. Last time I was there (3 summers ago, crazy!), we didn’t have time to do much. We only went to Park Güell and the beach. It was a blast though :]
