Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head
Really. They do. But thankfully I have an umbrella (ella, ella, eh). It’s been raining steadily all day. Not like a Florida rain where it either drizzles for an hour or pours. This is like a soft shower head in a hotel bathroom.
It’s the weekend!! So happy. I put my bus pass to use and rode into the old part of Salzburg today. Some guy asked me for gum on the bus (I was snapping mine) and whenever someone says gum, I just want to laugh because the word in German is Kaugummi. I gave him some Orbit and kept the chuckle to myself.
I had been off the bus for no more than 30 seconds when it began to rain (it’s about 12:45 or so). I took my creatively designed and happy Brito umbrella and joined the black, blue, and green mass of umbrellas. I wandered around the old city a bit. Didn’t take too many pictures because of the rain and the inability to balance an umbrella and my big camera. I’ll definitely be heading back though. When it began to rain a little harder, I took refuge in some stores. Mango, Esprit, and my favorite, H&M. Mango was having a huge sale but it was all just meh. Esprit is too old for me and sadly H&M had nothing. There was rarely a size below a 36. I found one flowy tank top, it’s white and very feminine, snoopy pjs, and 2 headbands. But nothing! No jeans, or anything :( Buuut I did meet two girls from Cooper City at H&M. They had just graduated and one is going to UNC and the other to UCF. Small world.
Lunch was pizza to go. I sat in a little side street on the floor, shielded from the rain and laughing at strange looks I got from people. I saw it as my own picnic. An American couple walked by and smiled at my idea. I liked it too! The man who I bought the pizza from asked me if I am from Israel. I said no, Miami and he said he’s from Romania. I took a picture of him with my camera and will post it later.
After that, I did what any American would do on a rainy day: see a movie. But the movie theater was closed :( so I sloshed back to the bus stop to head home. On the bus, I kept a lookout for a grocery store. I love European grocery stores. I have such happy memories in them, all from last summer of course. Like the time Brian from Texas and I had a baguette duel, or when Brian P had me on his back so I could grab the fruit from the top shelf. I told myself that I’d walk into the grocery store, pick 2 things I’ve never had before and try them. Instead, I walked out of Spar with peach Haribo candies and a delicious Apple-Pear spritzer. It was very refreshing. I waited another 15 minutes for the bus to get back home. I probably waited 40 minutes for buses today. It was very cold and windy. Today’s weather was like January in Miami. I wish I had more long sleeves/jackets!
