Just checked in!

LESS THAN 24 HOURS. I board at 5:15 PM tomorrow and hopefully depart by 6:15. It’s been rainy and stormy here so I’m hoping that the sunshine will break through the clouds and send me off to Spain! I’ll be arriving in Madrid around 9:30 AM. I have just checked in for my flight, added 25 new songs to my iPod, and made sure my iPad is charged and ready to go as I’ll probably not like the in-flight entertainment. Sorry to those who love CBS Eye on American.

Anyway, let me catch you all up on what I know so far about my trip to Spain:

~ Currently, Carley, Saad, and Shannon are there and we’re trying to meet up. Funny that I can’t see home friends while home but have to fly across the globe! But really, it’s ok :] Carley blogged about this churro place that gives you hot chocolate for dipping. YUM

~ I am also blogging for the UF International Center (UFIC). The posts there will be similar, if not identical, to those here. If you want to read about other students’ adventures, the link is http://globalgator.wordpress.com/

~ I’m staying in apartment about a 10 minute walk from Plaza Mayor, a central plaza in Madrid. Judge Isicoff said that there’s a wonderful market in it and I’ll be sure to check it out.

~ Are you sitting? Because I think you want to be sitting for this next one. My apartment mates are 4 guys. I’ve heard just about response across the board. Shocked, laughter, words of caution, comments on my karma, everything. So whatever is going through your mind right now, you are not alone in your thoughts. I don’t know how it happened, but whatever. It’s no different than when I lived on a co-ed floor in Rawlings my Freshman year. I have met them a couple times before and they seem really nice. One of them knows how to cook, and I guess I kind of can (I know my way around a kitchen) so 2/5 isn’t so bad, though I do prefer sticking to desserts. I did preference my apartment location (a sorority sister said to stay where there is easy access to nightlife) and I’m happy that I got one of my preferences.

~ After Madrid, I’ll be touring around with a sister, Mallory. Our destinations are still being finalized but I couldn’t be more excited!

In just over two days time, I’ll be writing to you from Madrid!
