Away I go!
Tonight I leave for Mumbai and I couldn’t be more excited. I have no idea how I’ve slept this week with all the joy and curiosity running through me. It takes about 17 hours of flying to get from Miami to Mumbai, and I have a 10 hour layover in London. In total, it’s over a day of travel!
Flying leg 1: I’ve been to London before and it’s one of my favorite places in the world. I’ll be using my time there to grab lunch with some friends I taught English with while in China. My face lights up and I start to get jumpy just thinking about being able to see Bertie, Sumeet and Jonathan. It’s been five years since I’ve seen them, and I’m thankful we’ve kept in touch despite time zone and geographical differences.
This flight is about 8.5 hours, and I have lots of ebooks and shows/movies downloaded to keep my busy. If I’m not sleeping...
My dad made the suggestion to get a day room at a hotel. I was able to find one and booked it! I’ll be able to drop off my luggage, change and get a quick shower before meeting the guys for lunch. Great idea, dad!
Flying leg 2: After my half day in London, I have a 9 hour flight to Mumbai and I’ll arrive on Sunday. I wanted to arrive early in case there were travel delays and I would still be able to join my program timely. Flying to China, I was delayed in Chicago twice going there and a third time on the way home, causing me to miss some of the programming. A handful of others are arriving early too, and I’m hoping we’ll all be able to coordinate meeting for dinner. We’re staying in different places but not too far from each other.
I have my in-flight essentials nearby, including tons of snacks. I’m ready for this adventure!! Let’s go!
Thank you to everyone who has shared their own travel stories, said they’ll follow along the blog, subscribers, offers of help or to make introductions abroad. You are all appreciated!
