My #1 tip on how you can actually save money on hotels
I love a good email newsletter and receive several from well-known travel publications.
In one newsletter this week, I received articles about a super easy hack to save money on hotels. Maybe I’ll learn something new, I thought. But no. On top of that, I was disheartened to see that my favorite resource for saving money on hotels wasn’t listed.
Yes, price matching with the hotel is a great travel note, and we’ve used it before on a Hyatt room to earn 5,000 points. Yes, I can try AAA, Costco, or another membership-based program, but I haven’t had much luck.
What I have had luck with is hotelslash.com.
This is not a sponsored post nor linked with affiliate info (but open to a partnership!), though I did sign up for the website before it became a paid membership. It’s now $29.95/year, and honestly, I’ve saved way more than that on hotels by using them. There is a free trial that allows you to try it before you commit.
HotelSlash works like this:
You can either find a hotel through the site OR book your hotel directly and then forward the reservation to them for tracking.
Booking with HotelSlash directly:
Put in your trip location, dates, and number of people.
2. Confirm your trip details. This is where you’ll put in your bed preferences and sign up for an account. Then submit! It’s that easy! You’ll then get an email with the best hotel deals available in a few minutes. I usually find it’s no more than 10 minutes.
To have HotelSlash track a booking you’ve already made:
Forward your booking confirmation email to save@hotelslash.com. You’ll then get confirmation that your reservation is being tracked, and you’ll be notified if a lower price is found. BIG NOTE: this only works on refundable reservations!!! There is a human on the other end of your email. Their customer support reached out on different occasions to confirm a stay’s cancellation details.
I’ve used this on Hyatt Hotels and took advantage of their price match policy. I’ve also used their search feature as a starting point for accommodations.
It’s that easy! Have you used HotelSlash or signed up because of this post? Let me know in the comments.
