Shabbat shalom from Notre Dame!

We made it to Paris! Our flight left about 45 minutes late but we still made it on time, yay for jet streams. I slept the most out of the family. We had four screaming children on the plane.

While we were waiting in line for immigration, an announcement came on asking the owner of a black, unattended bag to please come to baggage claim immediately or it will be destroyed by police. Dad explained that in case a bag has a motion sensor to detonate, officials will destroy a bag by putting a screen around it and blowing it up on the spot. He said, “Where do you think Monsters, Inc. got the idea with the sock?” WHO KNEW?! https://youtu.be/cUFJ1yVhJ6g

We left for the hotel to drop off our stuff, eat and plan for the day. We saw the Eiffel Tower, a couple get engaged (I’m guessing we’ll see two more), Notre Dame, strolled the Champs-Elysees and saw l'Arc de Triomphe.

We happened to be at Notre Dame the same time as their mass. It was really interesting to see a Catholic service led in French. I’m not familiar with mass but it was great to observe.

Tomorrow we’re off to see some castles. I’m especially excited for this because it’s a part of France that’s new to me. I’ve visited Paris in 2010, so it’s nice to have a new experience with family.

Photos will be on Facebook later, I’ll put one a day up on Instagram. If you’re not following me, you can @brandilah. Bonne nuit!
