Can't Go Wrong With French Toast For Dinner

Shout out to Sami Glosser for being absolutely amazing and to Connor because he will always be my friend, even if he shoots with a Canon :P

Chill day. Went to the Salzburg outlet mall with Kathrin. It was designed by the same man who built Aventura Mall. If I have to hear another European tell me, “Oh I love Miami! Aventura Mall is fantastic!” my leg may just spasm in the right direction and just happen to hit their shin. Not really, but it’s frustrating.

How the malls here differ from American ones:

  1. Less food places and pretty much no ice cream stores.

  2. Either really fashionable or not fashionable, few inbetweens.

  3. The stores that call themselves American, like this one called New Yorker, not American style. The closest you can get to American style is either a skate brand, or by actually purchasing Ralph Lauren or Tommy Hilfiger.

  4. NO TEAVANA :((( So I’m being over dramatic, injure me. But I miss having fresh tea as opposed to the ones that you can buy in a bag. Although, there’s this one tea called Good Mood Tea, and it actually puts you in a good mood.

  5. And did I mention no ice cream? Really. There are ice cream places in the city. (I got off the bus on the way home from the mall to stop for ice cream. Really, it was disappointing to discover NO ice cream place in the mall - which I walked around TWICE) You’ll be served with a cone. Take note: it is MOST DEFINITELY worth paying more per scoop of ice cream if you get a better cone. Yummy strawberry and coffee ice cream tastes delicious but if you finish it off with a cone that tastes like styrofoam, the deliciousness of it all is canceled out and your stomach shouts, “WHY, OH WHY DID YOU POLLUTE ME?!” Oh and p.s. ice cream toppings are non-existent here. They’re purists.

I made French toast for dinner. Carolin and Isabella had never had it before and as I babysat tonight and it was ok with their parents, that’s what we had. They definitely enjoyed it. Dipped it in honey and spread some nutella on it. Definitely Carolin’s new favorite dish. I hope. There are enough for leftovers to have in the morning! I’m excited! It felt comforting to be working in the kitchen. I’m used to making my own lunches when I’m at home and baking when I feel like it so the fact that I “had the kitchen” was nice. Their kitchen isn’t as large or baker friendly as the one at my house but it was perfect for tonight. It’s hard sometimes, when I’m just like, “Oh, I’m in the mood to bake!” and there are no ingredients for brownies, or anything. And Kathrin is big on eating healthy so sweets are a treat.

That’s it for now. I started watching How I Met Your Mother. It’s pretty funny. I’m almost done with the first season.
